Terms of Service

Effective Date: 2026-11-03 — Version 2026-11-03

Welcome to Vernalo: Plant Anywhere ("Vernalo," "we," "us," "our"), operated by Plant Anywhere. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Vernalo web application at app.plantanywhere.net, the Vernalo mobile applications for iOS and Android, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account, clicking "I agree," or otherwise accessing the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

2. Account Registration

You may create an account using an email address and password, a Google account, or continue as a guest. You are responsible for:

Guest accounts store data locally in your browser. If you clear your browser data, guest data may be permanently lost. We are not responsible for data loss in guest accounts.

3. Service Description

Vernalo provides interactive garden planning tools across web, mobile, desktop, and gaming platforms, including but not limited to:

The Play Garden is a read-only demonstration garden containing content owned by Plant Anywhere. It is not user-generated content and is not transferable to your account.

4. Subscription Plans and Payment

4.1 Free Tier

The Service is free to use. The free plan has a planting limit and may have other usage limits, described in Section 4.8 and shown in the Service. You do not need to pay to plan, track, or keep your gardens.

4.2 Paid Plans

Vernalo Complete (shown as "Pro" in some app stores) removes the free planting limit. It is offered as:

Not every option is offered on every platform or in every country. The price, the billing period, and what the plan includes are shown to you before you buy, and you agree to pay the price shown at purchase. Prices may differ by country, currency, and platform.

Who bills you depends on where you buy:

When Apple, Google, Amazon, or Valve bills you, that store's terms also govern the payment, renewal, cancellation, and refund of that purchase.

4.3 Auto-Renewal

Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price then in effect for your plan, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time. When you cancel, you keep Vernalo Complete until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again. We do not give partial refunds for the unused part of a period, except as stated in Section 4.4 or required by law.

How to cancel:

Deleting the app or your Vernalo account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple, Google, or Amazon. Cancel it with the store.

Free trials. If a plan includes a free trial, the length of the trial and the price after it are shown before you start. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged when the trial ends. On Apple, any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.

A one-time purchase never renews and is not a subscription.

4.4 Refunds

Web purchases (Stripe): payments are generally non-refundable. If you believe you are owed a refund because of a billing error or a service problem, contact us at plant@plantanywhere.net within 14 days of the charge. We review each request individually.

App store and Steam purchases: refunds are handled by the store that billed you, under its own refund policy. We cannot issue refunds for those purchases ourselves.

Nothing in this section limits any refund or withdrawal right you have under the law where you live.

4.5 Identification Allowance

Photo identification and diagnosis may be limited to a monthly allowance that depends on your plan. The current allowance is shown in the Service. An unused allowance does not carry over to the next month. Allowances have no cash value and cannot be transferred. Credits bought in a credit pack before credit packs were retired remain usable as described in Section 4.7.

4.6 Price Changes

We may change our prices. A price change never affects a one-time purchase you have already made. If we raise the price of a subscription you hold, we will tell you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, and you may cancel before then. When Apple, Google, or Amazon bills you, the store also notifies you and, where its rules require, asks for your consent; if you do not consent, the subscription ends at the end of the current period. Locked prices on legacy plans are covered in Section 4.7.

4.7 Legacy Plans

We no longer sell Founding Member, Lifetime, One-Time Planner, Gardener, or Smart Garden plans, or credit packs. If you bought one, we keep honoring it:

If a feature that your legacy plan specifically included is retired from the Service, you may cancel the plan and ask us for a refund of the unused part of any prepaid period.

4.8 Free Tier Usage Limits

The free plan is subject to usage limits, which may include the number of plantings, the identification allowance in Section 4.5, and access to certain features. Current free-tier limits include 15 plantings, plus any bonus plantings you earn under Section 23, and unlimited gardens. We reserve the right to adjust free-tier limits at any time. If you exceed free-tier limits, you will be prompted to upgrade to Vernalo Complete to continue using the affected features. We will not delete your existing data if you exceed a limit, but you may be unable to create new plantings until you upgrade or reduce your usage.

4.9 Taxes

On the web, prices are shown without applicable taxes. Sales tax, VAT, GST, and other transaction taxes depend on where you live and are added at checkout. In app stores and on Steam, the store decides how tax is shown and collects it. Tax rates can change when the law changes. A locked price under Section 4.7 covers the base price only; tax is calculated separately under the law in effect at each charge.

5. Acceptable Use

5.1 General

You agree not to:

5.2 Game Mod Integrations

Vernalo offers free game mods and companion experiences for third-party platforms, including Minecraft Java Edition (via Fabric), Stardew Valley (via SMAPI), and Roblox. These mods are part of the Service. When using game mods, you additionally agree that:

5.3 Roblox-Specific Terms

If you use the Plant Anywhere experience on Roblox:

6. User-Generated Content

6.1 Your Content

6.2 Social Export and Sharing

The Service allows you to export and share garden screenshots, calendar images, and other visual content to third-party platforms (such as Reddit, WhatsApp, WeChat, Facebook, and others). When you use these sharing features:

6.3 AR-Generated Content

When you use the augmented reality (AR) features to capture screenshots or recordings, those images are saved to your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit AR screenshots to our servers. AR screenshots may contain images of your real-world environment captured by your device's camera. You are solely responsible for any AR content you choose to share with third parties.

6.4 Community Content

The community forums ("Ask The Community") and trade stalls are public features. Content you post in these areas may be visible to other users. You are solely responsible for the content you post.

6.5 Content Moderation

We reserve the right to remove, edit, or restrict any content that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms, is harmful, offensive, or otherwise objectionable. We are not obligated to monitor all user content but may do so at our discretion.

6.6 Prohibited Content

You may not post content that is illegal, harassing, threatening, defamatory, sexually explicit, promotes violence, or infringes on any third party's intellectual property rights.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, graphics, crop database, simulation engine, identification models, and all associated intellectual property, is owned by Plant Anywhere and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. 8. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including, but not limited to:

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services. Third-party platform operators may change their terms, APIs, or policies at any time, which may affect the availability or functionality of our integrations with their platforms.

10. Disclaimers

10.1 No Professional Advice

The Service provides gardening information and automated recommendations for educational and planning purposes only. Plant identification, disease diagnosis, watering recommendations, fertilizer suggestions, companion planting advice, frost date estimates, and all other guidance provided by the Service are not a substitute for professional agricultural, horticultural, botanical, or mycological advice.

10.2 Accuracy of Identification and Automated Recommendations

Automated features, including plant identification, disease diagnosis, garden import, compost C:N ratio recommendations, fertilizer suggestions, and companion planting guidance, use machine-learning models and algorithmic calculations that may produce inaccurate results. Some of these features use models run by third parties, as described in our Privacy Policy. Do not rely solely on identification results to decide whether any plant, mushroom, or insect is edible or safe. Always consult a qualified expert before eating or handling any wild organism.

Generated garden plans, import layouts, and planting recommendations are suggestions based on data models. They do not account for every variable in your growing environment. You are responsible for checking that a recommendation suits your conditions before you act on it.

10.3 Weather and Environmental Data

Weather data, frost dates, evapotranspiration calculations, and environmental recommendations are derived from third-party data sources and mathematical models. They may be inaccurate or incomplete. We do not guarantee the accuracy of environmental data or the suitability of recommendations for your specific location or conditions.

10.4 Sensor Data, Irrigation, and Connected Hardware

The Service may display data from hardware sensors (such as ESP32-based soil moisture, temperature, light, and humidity sensors) that you install and connect. Sensor readings are provided for informational purposes only. Sensor accuracy depends on your hardware, calibration, placement, and environmental conditions. We do not manufacture, sell, or certify any sensor hardware.

If you use the Service to control irrigation hardware or make watering, planting, or other gardening decisions based on sensor data displayed in the Service, you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible for:

You are responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, and operation of any hardware you connect to the Service. We recommend verifying sensor readings against independent measurements before making significant irrigation or planting decisions.

10.5 "As Is" Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

10.6 Augmented Reality (AR) Features

AR features, including browser-based AR (WebXR) and native AR (ARKit/ARCore), use your device's camera and motion sensors to overlay digital content onto your real-world environment. When using AR features:

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PLANT ANYWHERE, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, CROPS, OR PROPERTY, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.

Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars ($50).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Plant Anywhere and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) Your Content; or (d) your violation of any third-party rights.

13. Garden Sharing and Collaboration

The Service allows you to share gardens with other users and assign roles (owner, editor, viewer). You are responsible for managing access to your shared gardens. We are not responsible for changes made by collaborators you have invited.

14. Cross-Platform Accounts

14.1 One Account, Multiple Platforms

Your Vernalo account may be used across multiple platforms, including the web application, iOS and Android mobile applications, the Steam desktop application, and game mod integrations. Your subscription status, garden data, and account settings sync across all platforms where you are signed in with the same account.

14.2 Account Linking

Some platforms require you to link your Vernalo account to a platform-specific identity (such as a Steam account, Minecraft UUID, or Roblox User ID). When you link accounts:

14.3 Subscription Portability

A Vernalo Complete purchase or subscription made through one platform (such as Stripe on the web) is recognized on the other platforms where you sign in with the same Vernalo account and cross-platform sign-in is available. However:

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination:

You may delete your account at any time through the account settings in the Service, or by contacting us at plant@plantanywhere.net.

16. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation by contacting us at plant@plantanywhere.net. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, either party may pursue binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

Any arbitration shall be conducted on an individual basis; class actions and class arbitrations are not permitted.

Small claims exception: Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court in the county where Plant Anywhere operates, if the claim qualifies for small claims court under that court's jurisdictional limits. For claims under $10,000 USD, we will bear the arbitration filing fees and administrative costs if the arbitrator determines your claim is not frivolous.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer protection laws cannot be overridden by contract, nothing in these Terms limits your rights under those laws. Any dispute with a consumer in such a jurisdiction may be brought in the courts of the consumer's country of residence to the extent required by local law.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" above and, for material changes, notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Plant Anywhere regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.

22. Platform-Specific Terms

22.1 Apple App Store

If you access the Service through an app downloaded from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Plant Anywhere, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no warranty obligation for the app. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, consumer protection, or intellectual property infringement. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

22.2 Google Play Store

If you access the Service through an app downloaded from Google Play, your use is also subject to Google Play's Terms of Service.

22.3 Steam

If you access the Service through the Steam desktop application, your use is also subject to the Steam Subscriber Agreement. Your Steam account credentials are handled by Valve; we receive only your Steam ID for account linking purposes.

22.4 Minecraft Mod

The Plant Anywhere Garden Mod for Minecraft Java Edition is a free, independently developed mod. It is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang Studios or Microsoft Corporation. Your use of Minecraft itself is governed by the Minecraft End User License Agreement.

22.5 Stardew Valley Mod

The Plant Anywhere Garden Sync mod for Stardew Valley is a free, independently developed mod. It is not an official Stardew Valley product and is not approved by or associated with ConcernedApe. Your use of Stardew Valley itself is governed by Stardew Valley's own terms.

22.6 Roblox

The Plant Anywhere experience on Roblox is subject to Roblox's Terms of Use and Community Standards. In-experience purchases use Robux and are governed by Roblox's policies. The experience is not an official Roblox product.

22.7 Amazon Appstore

If you access the Service through an app downloaded from the Amazon Appstore, your use is also subject to the Amazon Appstore terms of use. Amazon processes in-app purchases and subscriptions made in that app and handles their billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds.

23. Referral Program

23.1 What it is. You may invite people to Vernalo with your personal share link or garden page. If someone you invite becomes an Activated Friend, you and that person may each receive the reward below. Taking part is optional. Nothing you have bought, and nothing in the free service, depends on it.

23.2 Who can take part. You must be at least 16 years old, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to online services without a parent's consent. You must have a Vernalo account in good standing and opt in to the program. People you invite must meet the same age rule to receive a reward. Employees and contractors of Plant Anywhere cannot earn rewards.

23.3 How a reward is earned. A reward is earned only when an invited person becomes an Activated Friend. That means they (a) create a new Vernalo account through your link, (b) have never had a Vernalo account before, (c) verify the account with a supported sign-in provider, (d) add at least 3 plantings, and (e) keep the account for at least 7 days. Sharing, posting, link views and link opens never earn a reward by themselves. We never ask for your contacts, and you must not upload them.

23.4 The reward. When your first Activated Friend qualifies, your free planting limit goes up by 5, and so does your friend's. The extra plantings are permanent, subject to 23.7. Each account can receive this bonus once, whether as the person who invited or as the person invited. The bonus raises the free limit only. It does not unlock a paid plan.

23.5 What is not allowed. You may not refer yourself or anyone in your household who uses your devices or payment method. You may not create or use more than one account, fake accounts or automated sign-ups. You may not pay, or offer money or gifts to, anyone to sign up through your link. You may not post your link where that breaks the rules of the site you post on, make a review or rating a condition of your link, or send unsolicited bulk messages. When you share in a way that could earn a reward, you must keep the advertising label we add to your post (for example "#ad", "[광고]", "PR" or "#publi").

23.6 No cash value. The bonus has no cash value. It cannot be exchanged for money or credit, and it cannot be sold, transferred or moved to another account.

23.7 Fraud review. We may review a referral for up to 60 days after a bonus is given. If we reasonably find it was earned in breach of these terms, we may withhold or remove the bonus. For serious or repeated abuse we may suspend or close the accounts involved. Plantings you already created stay in your garden. If removing a bonus puts you over the free limit, you keep your existing plantings but cannot add more until you are under the limit or upgrade. We will tell you why, and you may dispute the decision at plant@plantanywhere.net.

23.8 Where it is not available. The program is not available to people in mainland China or Italy, or anywhere else it is prohibited or restricted by law. Where it is not available, we will not offer it.

23.9 Changes and ending the program. We may change or end the program with at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email. We may add new reward levels; each will have its own terms, shown to you before you can earn it. A bonus you have fully earned before a change takes effect will still be given, and bonus plantings already given stay yours unless removed under 23.7.

23.10 Taxes. You are responsible for any tax that applies to a reward you receive.

23.11 Your consumer rights. Nothing in this section limits rights you have under the consumer law of the country where you live.
